In creating our documentary, my co-director Nahad Bashir and I were driven by our longstanding conversations about the tragic death of Midhat Yosef during the Second Intifada. After multiple pitches, the Public Broadcasting Corporation saw the potential in our vision and decided to fund our project. Our filming commenced on Israel's Memorial Day, adding a profound significance as we documented Hayytam Abu Tarif's visit to the Beit Jan cemetery, where he paid respects to his fallen comrades. This poignant start set the tone for our entire journey. The production, however, faced unexpected challenges. Midway through the Iron Swords war erupted, significantly impacting Abu Tarif's mental state. This turmoil led to a shift in our crew dynamics, as we continued with just two other members. Amidst these trials, a serendipitous encounter with one of Abu Tarif’s friends brought an ethereal element to our narrative. This individual, who we came to see as a reincarnation of Midhat Yosef, shared the event from Midhat's perspective. This experience, both supernatural and stirring, deeply influenced our approach to the film, guiding us to capture and convey the same moving sensation to our audience.
